Winter’s Bone (2010)

17-year-old Ree Dolly (Lawrence) goes in search of her father, who put his family’s house on bail and then disappeared without a trace. Driven by the danger of losing her home and being stranded in the forests of the Ozarks, Ree opposes the code of silence of her marginalized relatives and risks their lives to save her family. Little by little, she clears the relational thicket of lies, excuses and threats and begins to bring the truth to light.
“Winter’s Bone” won the Grand Jury Prize and the Waldo Salt Screenplay Award at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. Directed by Debra Granik, the adaptation of the script is by Debra Granik and Anne Rosellini, and the literary basis is the bestseller by Daniel Woodrell.
