On an isolated rural estate, a man is in the midst of a slow decline. Confined to his bed and battling his final moments, his wife is gradually surrendering to overwhelming sorrow. To support their mother and bid farewell to their father, siblings Louise (portrayed by Ireland) and Michael (played by Abbott Jr.) return to the ancestral farm. However, it doesn’t take them long to notice that there’s something amiss with their mother, something beyond her profound grief. Slowly but surely, as their own anguish mounts, Louise and Michael find themselves plagued by a darkness akin to their mother’s, characterized by haunting nightmares and a growing conviction that an insidious force is overtaking their family.
