He Got Game (1998)
Drama, Sport..

He Got Game is sports drama film written, produced and directed by Spike Lee and starring Denzel Washington and Ray Allen. The film revolves around Jake Shuttlesworth (Denzel Washington), father of the top-ranked basketball prospect in the country, Jesus Shuttlesworth (Ray Allen).

The film is about a man, Jake Shuttlesworth (Denzel Washington) who is serving life in prison for the accidental murder of his wife and Jake’s relationship with his son, Jesus Shuttlesworth (Ray Allen), who is the number one ranked high school basketball player in the country. Jake is given one chance to shorten his prison term when the Governor and the Warden take a special interest in Jesus’ fate. If Jake can convince his son to sign with the hometown school, Big U, the powers that be may revisit his prison sentence. The catch: Jake has not seen Jesus since the murder and Jesus wants nothing to do with the man he no longer calls “father”.
